John Barnfather

John is currently the Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer for Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union, a $1.8B financial institution serving the California Institute of Technology and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). He is responsible for all aspects of technology and e-commerce; including Core Systems, Information Security, Network Architecture, Website, Internet Banking, Mobile, ATM, Credit Cards, and Facilities. John has been employed by the Credit Union for 21 years and has over 29 years of experience in the financial services industry involving both technology and operations. John has led the credit union though many large systems conversions and implementations including Core Migrations, Data Center upgrades, Internet Banking/Mobile, Credit Card Processing, and Information Security initiatives. John has been responsible for oversight of all new branch builds and remodels. John is currently chair of the Credit Union’s Delinquent Loan Committee, member of the Asset & Liability Committee and also serves on the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) Payments and Cybersecurity Committee. In addition, he has served on the CO-OP Financial Services Technology Council, Digital Insight Internet Banking Council, Fiserv Spectrum Client Board, and has served on the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Technology Council Executive Committee. In 2016, John graduated from the three year CUES CEO Institute Program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Samuel Curtis Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. John graduated with a BA in Business Management from The Master’s University in 1993.
