Ylan Kazi is the Chief Data Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. He brings deep strategic experience in analytics, emerging technology, data governance and other aspects of creating a data-driven culture.
He leads the Enterprise Data and Analytics Solutions team, where he is focused on creating and executing data strategy, using sophisticated analytic capabilities and modern data governance practices. He works closely with C-level and other senior executives by finding value in data and using it to drive clinical and financial results for members.
Prior to BCBSND, Ylan was the chief data officer at Children's Mercy Kansas City. He created the first enterprise intelligence strategy and built out an enterprise data team. He also led the office of data governance for the organization.
Prior to Children’s Mercy, Ylan worked for UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 5 healthcare company. During his tenure, he transformed analytics and focused on building out data science teams within the organization. He grew his team to become a global data science team and created an AI strategy for patients to improve their health outcomes and experience.
Prior to his time with UnitedHealth Group, Ylan served in a variety of leadership roles at Target, R1 Revenue Cycle Management and Cerner. Ylan is a featured speaker and thought leader in the artificial intelligence space and writes about artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency on his blog at ylankazi.com.
Ylan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Carthage College and Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. He has also completed the Technical Leader Program through the Carlson Executive Education program. Ylan enjoys traveling, playing golf, reading, and spending time with his wife and three children.
